Work comes up near Edgbaston, Erdington and Sutton Coldfield, much of it within reach of Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Between University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham City Council, most of what we staff around Selly Oak sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Edgbaston, Erdington and Sutton Coldfield one week, Selly Oak, Kings Heath and Moseley the next. West Midlands is well within the area we cover.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
- ✓ Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
- ✓ Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
- ✓ Mobility support and safe moving and handling
- ✓ Medication support appropriate to your role and training
- ✓ Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Moseley is easier for you to reach than Handsworth, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Handsworth.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Edgbaston and Selly Oak first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
What we look for
- ✓Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
- ✓NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your West Midlands shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Birmingham itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in West Bromwich, Solihull and Walsall as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Birmingham.
