Torquay and the area we cover
Work comes up near Babbacombe, St Marychurch and Wellswood, much of it within reach of Torbay Hospital. Between South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Torbay Council, most of what we staff around Ellacombe sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Babbacombe, St Marychurch and Wellswood one week, Ellacombe, Torre and Chelston the next. If you are based around TQ1 or TQ2, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Chelston is easier for you to reach than Cockington, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Cockington.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Babbacombe and Ellacombe first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Devon shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Torquay itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Exeter, Plymouth and Taunton as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Torquay.
