Support Worker roles in Runcorn
Support Worker roles in Runcorn cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.
Runcorn and the area we cover
Halton Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Old Town and Weston draw staff from the same pool. Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Halton Borough Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Old Town, Higher Runcorn and Weston, with regular work further out at Weston Point, Castlefields and Palacefields. Postings run across Cheshire.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Castlefields on earlies and Palacefields on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Old Town and Windmill Hill.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Weston to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Cheshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Runcorn itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Widnes, Warrington and St Helens are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Runcorn both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Old Town, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
