Nurse roles in Wrexham
If you are an NMC-registered nurse living in or near Wrexham, we would like to hear from you. Protocol Healthcare Services supplies nurses to community and healthcare settings across the UK, on temporary contracts, permanent contracts, or a mix of the two while you work out what suits.
Wrexham and the area we cover
Wrexham Maelor Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Rhosddu and Gwersyllt draw staff from the same pool. Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board runs services locally, with Wrexham County Borough Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Rhosddu, Acton and Gwersyllt, with regular work further out at Coedpoeth, Rhosllanerchrugog and Brymbo. Postings run across North Wales.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Rhosllanerchrugog on earlies and Brymbo on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Rhosddu and Rhostyllen.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Gwersyllt to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which North Wales services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wrexham itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Chester, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Wrexham both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Rhosddu, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.

You need current NMC registration and the right to work in the UK. Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable but not essential, and we will talk through which settings around Wrexham suit your background.
Day, night and weekend shifts, on full-time and part-time patterns. You set your availability and we work to it. Once you are established we can offer regular ongoing shifts rather than one-offs.
Both. We recruit for temporary and permanent positions, and many people start on agency shifts around Wrexham before moving into a permanent post once they have found a service that suits them.
Across nursing homes, residential services, supported living, community teams and NHS settings. In practice that means Rhosddu, Acton, Gwersyllt, Coedpoeth and Rhosllanerchrugog, and out into North Wales. Wrexham Maelor Hospital is the main hospital in the area.
We have immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Once your registration, right-to-work and DBS checks are in place, shifts can usually follow quickly. Call 020 8951 4510 or send us your details to get started.
