Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Southwark. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.
Where you would be based in Southwark
Work comes up near Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Peckham, much of it within reach of Guy's Hospital. Between St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Southwark Council, most of what we staff around Camberwell sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Peckham one week, Camberwell, Dulwich and Nunhead the next. If you are based around SE1 or SE5, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Nunhead is easier for you to reach than Walworth, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Walworth.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Bermondsey and Camberwell first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your London shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Southwark itself, which we would rather say plainly.
