Nurse roles in Bedford
Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Bedford. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.
Where you would be based in Bedford
Work comes up near Kempston, Goldington and Brickhill, much of it within reach of Bedford Hospital. Between Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Bedford Borough Council, most of what we staff around Putnoe sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Kempston, Goldington and Brickhill one week, Putnoe, Queens Park and Castle the next. If you are based around MK40 or MK43, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Castle is easier for you to reach than Harpur, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Harpur.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Kempston and Putnoe first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
Why people stay with us
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Bedfordshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Bedford itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Milton Keynes, Luton and Stevenage as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Bedford.
Tell us which parts of Bedfordshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
Nurse Jobs in Bedford, answered
You need current NMC registration and the right to work in the UK. Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable but not essential, and we will talk through which settings around Bedford suit your background.
Day, night and weekend shifts, on full-time and part-time patterns. You set your availability and we work to it. Once you are established we can offer regular ongoing shifts rather than one-offs.
Both. We recruit for temporary and permanent positions, and many people start on agency shifts around Bedford before moving into a permanent post once they have found a service that suits them.
Across nursing homes, residential services, supported living, community teams and NHS settings. In practice that means Kempston, Goldington, Brickhill, Putnoe and Queens Park, covering MK40, MK43, MK45 and MK44, and out into Bedfordshire. Bedford Hospital is the main hospital in the area.
We have immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Once your registration, right-to-work and DBS checks are in place, shifts can usually follow quickly. Call 020 8951 4510 or send us your details to get started.
