Healthcare Assistant roles in Swansea

Healthcare Assistant work in Swansea is one of the most direct ways into a career in care. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits HCAs for temporary and permanent positions, with full training provided and a consultant who knows which settings suit you.

Where the work is in Swansea

Morriston Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Mumbles and Uplands draw staff from the same pool. Swansea Bay University Health Board runs services locally, with Swansea Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Mumbles, Sketty and Uplands, with regular work further out at Morriston, Gorseinon and Clydach. Postings run through SA1, SA2 and SA3, including out at St Thomas.

The job day to day

  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records

When you would work

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Gorseinon on earlies and Clydach on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Mumbles and Gowerton.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Uplands to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Before you apply

  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

Working with Protocol

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which South Wales services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Swansea itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Neath, Port Talbot and Llanelli are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Swansea both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Mumbles, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
