Healthcare Assistant roles in Oxford

If you are looking for Healthcare Assistant work in Oxford, whether that is a few shifts a week around study or family, or a full-time permanent post, Protocol Healthcare Services can help you find it.

Working around Oxford

John Radcliffe Hospital anchors a good deal of the health provision around Headington and Cowley, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Oxfordshire County Council commissions much of the care in the area, and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Headington, Cowley, Jericho and Summertown and out towards Marston, Iffley and Rose Hill. Work extends across Oxfordshire.

A typical shift

  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision

Shifts and contracts

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Marston work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Jericho.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Cowley is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

What you will need

  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

How we work with you

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Headington and Marston, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Oxford itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Aylesbury and High Wycombe often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around Summertown. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
