Care Home roles in Oxford

Care home work in Oxford suits people who want to know the people they look after rather than meet someone new every day. Protocol Healthcare Services fills shifts and permanent posts in nursing and residential settings, for nurses and for care staff alike.

Oxford and the area we cover

John Radcliffe Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Headington and Jericho draw staff from the same pool. Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Oxfordshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Headington, Cowley and Jericho, with regular work further out at Summertown, Marston and Iffley. Postings run across Oxfordshire.

What you would be doing

  • Medication support appropriate to your role and training
  • Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
  • Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
  • Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
  • Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
  • Mobility support and safe moving and handling

Shifts, and how they are booked

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Marston on earlies and Iffley on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Headington and Rose Hill.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Jericho to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

What we look for

  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
  • NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
  • Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required

What we do for you

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Oxfordshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Oxford itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Reading are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Oxford both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Headington, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
