Healthcare Assistant roles in Ipswich

If you are looking for Healthcare Assistant work in Ipswich, whether that is a few shifts a week around study or family, or a full-time permanent post, Protocol Healthcare Services can help you find it.

Where you would be based in Ipswich

Ipswich Hospital anchors a good deal of the health provision around Chantry and Whitton, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Suffolk County Council commissions much of the care in the area, and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Chantry, Whitton, Gainsborough and Stoke and out towards Rushmere, Castle Hill and Bixley Farm. IP1, IP2, IP3 and IP4 come up most often, and work extends through Suffolk.

What the role involves

  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable

Hours, shifts and contracts

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Rushmere work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Gainsborough.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Whitton is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

Who we are looking for

  • The right to work in the UK
  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Why people stay with us

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Chantry and Rushmere, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Ipswich itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Colchester and Bury St Edmunds often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around Stoke. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
