Care Home roles in Barnstaple
Care home work in Barnstaple suits people who want to know the people they look after rather than meet someone new every day. Protocol Healthcare Services fills shifts and permanent posts in nursing and residential settings, for nurses and for care staff alike.
Barnstaple and the area we cover
North Devon District Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Pilton and Sticklepath draw staff from the same pool. Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Devon County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Pilton, Newport and Sticklepath, with regular work further out at Roundswell, Bradiford and Whiddon Valley. Postings run through EX31 and EX32, including out at Portmore.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Medication support appropriate to your role and training
- ✓ Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
- ✓ Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
- ✓ Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
- ✓ Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
- ✓ Mobility support and safe moving and handling
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Bradiford on earlies and Whiddon Valley on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Pilton and Forches.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Sticklepath to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
- ✓Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Devon services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Barnstaple itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Exeter, Bridgend and Port Talbot are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Barnstaple both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Pilton, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
