Care Home roles in Barking

Care home work in Barking suits people who want to know the people they look after rather than meet someone new every day. Protocol Healthcare Services fills shifts and permanent posts in nursing and residential settings, for nurses and for care staff alike.

Where you would be based in Barking

Queen's Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Barking Town Centre and Abbey draw staff from the same pool. Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust runs services locally.

Most placements are in Barking Town Centre, Gascoigne and Abbey, with regular work further out at Thames View, Eastbury and Upney. Postings run through IG11 and RM8, including out at Barking Riverside.

What the role involves

  • Medication support appropriate to your role and training
  • Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
  • Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
  • Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
  • Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
  • Mobility support and safe moving and handling

Hours, shifts and contracts

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Eastbury on earlies and Upney on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Barking Town Centre and Creekmouth.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Abbey to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Who we are looking for

  • Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
  • NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
  • Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

Why people stay with us

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which London services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Barking itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Ilford, Newham and Tower Hamlets are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Barking both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Barking Town Centre, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
