Support Worker roles in Aberdeen

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Aberdeen for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Where the work is in Aberdeen

Work comes up near Ferryhill, Rosemount and Cults, much of it within reach of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Between Scotland and Aberdeen City Council, most of what we staff around Mannofield sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Ferryhill, Rosemount and Cults one week, Mannofield, Bridge of Don and Dyce the next. If you are based around AB25 or AB10, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

The job day to day

  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making

When you would work

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Dyce is easier for you to reach than Bucksburn, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Bucksburn.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Ferryhill and Mannofield first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Before you apply

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Working with Protocol

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Scotland shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Aberdeen itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Dundee, Perth and Kirkcaldy as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Aberdeen.

Tell us which parts of Scotland you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
