Healthcare Assistant roles in Ayr

Protocol Healthcare Services places Healthcare Assistants in and around Ayr, on agency shifts and in permanent roles. You do not need years of experience to start: what matters most is reliability, patience and a genuine interest in the people you look after.

Where the work is in Ayr

Work comes up near Alloway, Doonfoot and Forehill, much of it within reach of University Hospital. Between South Ayrshire and South Ayrshire Council, most of what we staff around Belmont sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Alloway, Doonfoot and Forehill one week, Belmont, Newton on Ayr and Wallacetown the next. If you are based around KA6 or KA7, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

The job day to day

  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition

When you would work

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Wallacetown is easier for you to reach than Heathfield, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Heathfield.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Alloway and Belmont first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Before you apply

  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

Working with Protocol

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your South Ayrshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Ayr itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Kilmarnock, East Kilbride and Paisley as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Ayr.

Tell us which parts of South Ayrshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
