Care Home roles in Cambridge
Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for nursing and residential homes in and around Cambridge, covering everything from a single shift to a permanent contract. We place Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, senior carers and support staff.
Cambridge and the area we cover
Work comes up near Chesterton, Trumpington and Cherry Hinton, much of it within reach of Addenbrooke's Hospital. Between Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridgeshire County Council, most of what we staff around Newnham sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Chesterton, Trumpington and Cherry Hinton one week, Newnham, Romsey and Arbury the next. If you are based around CB1 or CB4, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
- ✓ Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
- ✓ Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
- ✓ Mobility support and safe moving and handling
- ✓ Medication support appropriate to your role and training
- ✓ Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Arbury is easier for you to reach than Petersfield, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Petersfield.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Chesterton and Newnham first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
What we look for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
- ✓NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
- ✓Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your East of England shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Cambridge itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Stevenage, Bury St Edmunds and Bedford as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Cambridge.
Tell us which parts of East of England you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
