Trusted care and staffing across Belfast
Protocol Healthcare Services works with families and care providers right across Belfast and the wider Northern Ireland. For families we help arrange home care that keeps a loved one safe and independent at home, from a short daily visit through to full live-in support. For care providers we supply qualified nurses, carers and support workers, drawing on more than ten years of experience matching the right people to the right settings.
We should be upfront: our base is in the South of England, and we do not run a local office in Belfast. What we do have is a genuinely national healthcare staffing operation and a network of trusted home care partners, so we coordinate care and place vetted professionals in Belfast the same way we do everywhere we work, with enhanced vetting, references and training completed before anyone starts, and a consultant on hand around the clock.

Local knowledge across Belfast
Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, home to well over a quarter of a million people spread across distinctive communities such as the Falls, the Shankill, Andersonstown, Ballymacarrett, Cregagh, Ormeau, Stranmillis and the Malone Road. From the terraced streets of west and east Belfast to the leafier avenues off the Malone Road and the regenerated Titanic Quarter by the River Lagan, care needs vary just as much as the neighbourhoods themselves. We tailor support to the person and the place rather than offering a one size fits all service, whether a client lives in a BT1 city centre apartment or a family home out towards the slopes of Cave Hill.
We regularly support people returning home after a stay at the Royal Victoria Hospital off the Grosvenor Road or Belfast City Hospital on the Lisburn Road, both run by the Belfast Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust, along with the Mater Hospital in the north of the city. The first weeks back at home matter, so we help with medication routines, mobility and rehabilitation support and stay in close contact with families and community teams.
In Northern Ireland, health and social care are integrated, so adult social care in the city is arranged by the Belfast Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust rather than a council or an English style trust. If you think a relative may qualify for help with funding, you can ask the Trust for a free care needs assessment, followed by a financial assessment. Home care agencies here are regulated by the RQIA (Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority), not the English regulator. Many families we work with self-fund their care, and we are always happy to explain how the different routes work. You can read more on our paying for care guide.
